A Comparative Study On Solid Geometry By People’s Education Publishing House And Human Education Publishing House

This paper studies the similarities and differences between the differently published Solid Geometry textbooks(Compulsory Ⅱ)by Human Education Publishing House in July 2011(hereinafter referred to as "Human Edition")and the People’s Education Publishing House in February 2007(hereinafter referred to as "People’s Edition").The study focuses on the differences in content structures,system structures of teaching materials,the examples and exercises,knowledge scope and difficulty,etc.Through the studying methods of document analysis method,statistical analysis method and comparative study method,the author of this paper finds the following similarities and differences:1.The content structures(1)The orders of the titles in the Contents are almost the same,but the classification of People’s Edition is more detailed.(2)Introduction outlines:People’s Edition pays more attention to the orientation of problems,and the teaching material is closer to life,but Human Edition is more interesting.(3)Both columns are diversified:People’s Edition tends to leading the students to think actively.(4)The types of narrators are rich;People’s Edition has good affinity;Human Edition is simpler in form than The People’s Edition.(5)Both have general summaries,but People’s Edition focuses on the subjectivity of students;Human Edition focuses on the guidance of learning method.2.System structures of teaching materialsAs for the System structures of solid geometry,the two versions of textbooks both are from whole to local and from concrete to abstract,starting from the whole feeling of the space geometry,then to the study of the point,line and plane,which compose space geometry.The difference between the arrangement sequence is not big,but the contents list of People’s Edition is more detailed.3.The examples and exercises(1)The total number of their examples is similar,but the quantity of exercises in People’s Edition is twice as large as that of Human Edition.(2)The types of exercise are rich,most of which are Q&A forms and no backgrounds or life experiences involved.Human Edition focuses on training about basic knowledge and comprehensive abilities while People’s Edition focuses on the consolidation of knowledge.4.Knowledge scope and difficulty(1)The breadth of the knowledge:the points of knowledge are almost the same,but the content arrangement in People’s Edition is more comprehensive,whose knowledge presents from the shallow to the deep,which conforms to the law of students’ cognition.(2)The difficulty of knowledge points:from the data analysis,the course of The People’s Edition is presented more deeply,but the broad of curriculum is low and the course takes less time,so the course of People’s Edition is more difficult than the Human Edition.Moreover,this paper throws out suggestions for further writing of the course of senior high school mathematics textbooks.
