Research On Scientific Literacy Improvement Among Farmers During New Period

Since the enactment of "Outline of National Action Plan for Scientific Literacy of All", our famers become one of the four focuses whose scientific literacy need to improve. The scientific literacy problem of our farmers during new period is no longer problem of ideas and morality but our social problem and livelihood problem. How to make the farmers understand scientific and technological knowledge and master scientific and technological skills in a quick and high-efficiency way and how to deal with the relationship between science and technology and society have become the important content of improving the life quality of farmers and promoting the construction of socialist rural civilizatio.This paper takes the farmers who live all year round in rural areas in Zhangzi county, Shanxi province as investigation objects, makes comprehensive investigation on scientific literacy situation of farmers, improvement situation of scientific literacy as well as difference scientific literacy situations among different levels of farmers through combining literature review, material collection, questionnaire and field face-to-face interview etc together, makes statistical analysis of attained data with SPSS 19.0 and Exce12007, and discovers that new situations have appeared in the scientific literacy improvement aspect among our farmers during new period and faces new opportunities and challenges. The scientific literacy level of our farmers is improving every year, but a considerable part of farmers are with problems of obvious improvement of economic consciousness, utilitarian of scientific and technological concept and study initiative needs to be improved etc, which has caused a serious social science and moral problem among part of farmers who make abuse of prohibited science and technology products and affect the safety of agricultural products etc.On this basis, this paper analyzes factors that affect scientific literacy of farmers from aspects of the utilitarian influence of current economy, attack of multiple ideas, inadequate of institutional mechanism for science education in rural areas as well as problems existed in farmers themselves etc with method of combining internal reasons and external reasons together, in addition, it puts forward countermeasures from four aspects that it needs to insist on guidance of Marxist scientism, eliminate the utilitarian influence of economy, improve our institutional mechanism for science education among farmers and strengthen the self-cultivation of farmers etc in improving scientific literacy of our farmers.
