Because of their lack of parental care, the left-behind children groups faced many problems. In this study, social workers carried out growth group work in two left-behind children of primary school respectively, hope to be able to promote the healthy growth of left-behind children. These two homogeneous group carried out the same intervention, however, they showed a completely different effect. One set of group effect is good, another group of effect was not obvious. For the different effect, the social workers decided to analyze the reasons, hope to provide experiences for the future social work involvement of children left behind.This study uses the interview method and observation method, on the basis of literature analysis to understand the current situation of the left-behind children. With group work method to intervene. By observing the performances of the group members and interview them and related person to evaluate the effect of group work. Social worker has carried on a profound professional reflection, and the reason is summarized as apriority concept, operation is not skilled in the process of intervention, and the group members has different service experiences. After analyzing reasons, this paper put forward the corresponding suggestions for improvement: social workers should avoid preconceptions, continue to strengthen their professional ability, considering all the related factors. I hope that through these recommendations to promote the development of left-behind children in social work practice.
