A Research On The Nationality Of Mythological Characters In Chinese Animated Films

Animated movies are not just entertainments;they have a more profound impact on the contemporary society than we have imagined.Under the background of Chinese traditional culture,animation,as a comprehensive audio-visual art,has formed its own unique style and aesthetic system.Through the use of inheritance and inheritance of local cultural heritage,it uses rich and unique artistic techniques.Out of the people's living conditions and spiritual outlook.In the shaping of the animated character,the artist uses the creation concept of fantasy,metaphor and symbol to reflect the people's psychology,embody the people's life style and thinking logic,express the popular culture,and convey the spiritual concept.However,Chinese animation has suffered two hard blows in its historical development.The faults in culture and the subversion of spirit have affected the development of the animation industry in China.Chinese animation film has been developed for nearly a hundred years,but there are few animated films have the mythical theme.According to the research,the majority of Chinese animated films tell stories in a childish way,without digging deep into the intrinsic value of the story.At home and abroad,the majority of the studies of the animated movies focuses on the aesthetic value and narrative style of mythological,and seldom analyzes the "nationality" of the characters.In face of the diversified market environment,Chinese animated films lost its own value by shaping one-sided characters and pleasing the taste of the majority of people.The only way for Chinese animated movies to evolve and progress is to find out the national origin of the animated film and to explore the "nationality" of the character of the films.This paper will focus on how “nationality” is embodied in the character development,starting with the mythical characters in Chinese animated movies.Through "national culture","national spirit" and "national aesthetics”,this paper will explore the relationship between them and character development,then it will explore how mythical characters were developed by analyzing external visual elements and the inner spiritual elements from real world examples to further emphases the importance of "nationality" and its influence on animated films.Compared to the animated films in developed countries,the progress of Chineseanimated films is relatively slow.If we want to have a place in the international market for animated movies,first of all,we should integrate traditional culture with modern art,enhance national character in the character development,and increase the brand awareness of Chinese animated films,which means,our films need to be recognized by the world,but not to be self-appreciative.Secondly,the character development should integrate into the national spirit accurately,instead of formal "teaching" and entertainment,so that the audience can learn from many angles and aspects,that way,the Chinese animated films can grow and thrive.
