With the rapid development of science and technology, realizing China’s dream requires China to strengthen its foreign scientific and technological exchanges. Therefore, scientific and technological English translation is becoming increasingly important. The main purpose of scientific and technological English is to convey scientific and technological information objectively and accurately and one of its major syntactical features is the widespread use of the passive voice. The different forms of the passive voice between English and Chinese make it difficult for the translation of the passive voice sentences in scientific and technological English. On the basis of translation of An Introduction to Rubber Technology(Chapter 1 and 2),under the guidance of Nord’s Skopos Theory, the report summarizes five situations about the passive voice translation of English-Chinese scientific and technological translation, including the translation into habitual usage, judgment sentences, active sentences, sentences with no subject, and other structures and so on.The report is divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduces the description and nature of the project as well as the translation requirements. The second chapter mainly introduces pre-translation work, translation process and after-translation work. The third chapter gives us some fundamental information about passive voice translation and discusses the translation methods of English passive voice into Chinese with examples as well as other problems and its solutions. The final chapter summarizes the author’s inspiration and enlightenment in the method of passive voice translation as well as in the process of translation practice.
