Vaporwave is a music genre and art movement emerging in the network in early 2010.In the 21st century,the development of digital technology and the popularization of new media have provided a vast space for the transformation of traditional cultural types.At the same time,with an unprecedentedly open,borderless,multi-media physical space and a relatively free,equal and open spiritual world,the network medium has spawned a series of new cultural types.Youth subcultures,under such well-developed online media environment,rely heavily on the Internet-based information technology revolution.As "digital natives",the present youth group are born and growing dealing with new media such as mobile phones,computers and the Internet,they start spreading their culture and values in social Networks,pursuing identity in the virtual Internet world.Vaporwave art is the very result of this development of Internet media.Because of its retro,mixed and avant-garde visual features,Vaporwave art become a unique but strong way for the young people to express themselves.The globalization of information,digital media innovations and viral transmission also have promoted the popularity of this postmodern aesthetics rapidly.Vaporwave art uses the Internet to"create,display and share",reducing the threshold of artistic creation,so that every Vaporwave enthusiasts can participate in the creation,with the collage to create a novel fashion trend,or with Glitch art to protest the mainstream culture guided by modern science and technology.This article conducts research into the aesthetics and art features of the Vaporwave,and analyses the applied cases of Vaporwave art.It believes that such a highly appealing art form will have great potential for development and commercial value in design fields.Based on the research above,the author had deep thinking about the development of Vaporwave art,and presented her viewpoint and future outlook about the innovative application of Vaporwave aesthetic styles with the virtual gallery work Do Some Meditation.
