Research On Square Dancing In The View Of Popular Music Culture

In recent years,square dancing,as the most popular social culture at present,has sprung up and been rooted across the country.It is unparallel for other fitness methods in terms of its large number of participants,duration and scale.Being highlighted by various headlines in media,square dancing has all of sudden become one of social hot spots.Then why is it so popular?Ultimately,the public have accepted it.I would like to make analysis of it in the view of popular music culture and with music identity,dance identity and culture identity as entry points.In this article,research methods of participatory observation and depth interview have been mainly adopted to observe and track three square dancing teams from different provinces for five months.These three teams are respectively comprised of housewives and ordinary retirees,high level intellectuals and senior retired cadres.The investigation and analysis firstly shows that the public like catchy popular music,passionate folk dance music,and revolution ballads to accompany in square dancing as these kinds of music can add life fun,concentrate national spirits,and drive towards for social harmony.Secondly,why on earth the public like square dancing?It is because it can help to release pressure with easy body movements,make dancers happy with its cheerful dancing themes,and let all dancers get along with each other.Finally,culture identity of square dancing can be reflected in its solemn ceremonial sense,strong belonging sense and pleasant happiness.Those three aspects have again explained the essential reason for its popularity is improvement of cultural awareness,construction of identity and realization of humanistic care.As social contradictions increase day by day,current situation that internal system of square dancing is urgent for improvement has been highlighted.The author,on the basis of researches made by many scholars,has concluded that eights specific measures formed at three levels,shall be taken to improve.Three levels are comprised of government and community,college and professional art group,mew media and network.Nine measures are to strengthen governmental guidance to promote reasonable application of public space,combine local features to build a transmission window to community culture,organize community volunteers to commonly protect and lead for standardized square dancing,create high-level square dancing and lead to formulate strict standard evaluation system,set up college platform for scientific square dancing movements with technical guidance,rely on college dancing treatment association to deal with mental illness of the middle aged,set up positive public opinion guidance function,and standardize its video platform for resource sharing.As per three-step thinking of problem proposal,analysis and solution,I would like to analyze under the perspective of popular music culture and solve at popular culture level.It is hoped that this thesis can help the public to be more understanding and tolerant of square dancere.
