A Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of Share Purchase Agreement

The thesis is based on a Share Purchase Agreement that the author translated during the internship in Shiyu Translation Company.The purpose of this thesis is to provide some inspiration for translators in the practice of translating Share Purchase Agreements so as to improve the quality of legal translation.The English-Chinese translation of the Share Purchase Agreement relates to the equity interest in the capital of Kangnas Company.It requires that the translator should be able to use the translation principles and strategies correctly,express the legal implications of the source text accurately,and avoid legal dispute.The thesis discusses the translation method of the Share Purchase Agreement from the perspective of translation practice.First,it explores the translation principles of legal texts,such as,the principle of exactness and rigor,the principle of clarity and conciseness,the principle of consistency and identity,and the principle of language standardization.Then,the thesis analyzes the features of a Share Purchase Agreement from three aspects.They are vocabulary,sentence and discourse.The thesis provides examples selected from the translation to meet the wishes.The language of a Share Purchase Agreement should be formal and standardized.The thesis analyzes this phenomenon by ways of tables,illustrations and texts vividly so as to meet the wishes.Among all,the thesis puts forward the skills and methods of translating long sentences and offers two ways to deal with long sentences.One way is to use sentence structures to simplify long sentences.The other way is to make full use of the logical hints that lie in long sentences.All in all,literal translation is widely used in legal translation,but the translation should be smooth and readable.
