Since the enlightenment, the mainstream of western philosophy has been rationalism. But in Bergson's view, this rationalism obscures the perception of the world. He advocates to grasp the essence of the world by intuition.Bergson's philosophy is a system that comprehends time as the essence, freedom as the subject, and intuition as the method.Different from philosophers of the past,he refused to give the life of inner a equal status as the matter in space. And he clearly specified philosophy ought to be a combination of a variety of specific scientific philosophy, with its unique research object and should be a independent discipline. The object of this study should be different from the empirical science, which is time.Bergson redefined the real time with "stretching",pointing out its constant flow, immeasurable, grasping by institution and so on.He also connected time with life and freedom, making individual life full of creative impulses and making a real freedom possible. This not only provides another possibility for people to pursue a new way of life, but also for people to seek for themselves in the complex material society, which also provides important spiritual support.
