| This is a translation report based on the author’s practical translation experience of an English book named Science Fiction: The New Critical Idiom(Chapter Ⅲ)which is written by the novelist and critic Adam Roberts.This book focuses on reviews and criticisms of definition,history,gender and race of science fiction(or simply SF for short)based on the analysis of case studies.The translation content mainly refers to the feminism in science fiction which includes the female role in science fiction and gender identity.The source text is a review article whose language is targeted and reasonable,but it also represents the writer’s points.Among sentences quoted in this chapter,all have strong logic and various modifiers.Since this chapter refers to the topic of science fiction,it presents a large number of novel names,many neologisms and terminologies,and some sentences on the theme of feminism.According to a large quantity of translated text of review articles and science fictions,the author used some common translation methods such as transliteration,literal translation and free translation.Under the background and the context,the author both kept the national features and faithfully conveyed the meaning of the original text under the guidance of Skopos theory during the translation process so as to achieve the purpose of intercultural communication. |
