| In recent years,disasters have occurred frequently in various countries,so it is very necessary to share related information.Due to the unique textual features of popular science articles,the translator of such materials faces the problem: "How to make the translation have the same function as the original text".The author selected the most typical chapter of popular science article Practice Manual of Earthquake Disaster Prevention as the original text.This chapter has total10004 Chinese characters,introducing survival skills for people confronting with earthquake.Firstly,the author read original text,roughly analyzed the characteristics of the text and found translation difficulties in the text.With objective and concise information,the text is accurate.The translation difficulties include: how to ensure the accuracy of professional terms,how to ensure the function of four-word structure,how to ensure the integrity and accuracy of sentence information,and how to retain sentence tone,etc.Based on Skopos Theory,the author summarized the word and sentence translation difficulties and chose appropriate translation strategy so as to make the translation readable,accurate and helpful.Finally,under the guidance of Skopos Theory,although some translation of sentences still need further consideration,the quality of this whole translation text is improved to some extent.Through this translation practice,the author has a better understanding of Skopos Theory and the translation of popular science,and hope that this practice report would give some references to relevant people in the future. |
