The source text comes from the website of IMF,it is a working report released by the IMF African Department.In the working report,the authors analyse the factors related to the growth breaks and growth spells of this region over it’s last decades’ development through numerous data and stylized facts by scientific and statistical methods.In the process of translation,the translator encountered difficulties from non-linguistic and linguistic aspects.As for non-linguistic aspects,some economic theories,formulas and research methods are of great challenges for the translator,but through consulting insiders,looking up relevant dictionaries and reading the information on website.Finally,he addressed these problems.And for linguistic difficulties,the translator was guided by the Functional Equivalence theory and used various translation skills such as conversion,amplification,omission.The translation report consists four chapters.Chapter one is the introduction which includes the project background,significance.The second chapter is the research background,including the text analysis and main contents,the theoretical basis.chapter three is main part of this report which contains the difficulties and solutions to the translation.Next is the conclusion that includes experience the translator learned and problems to be solved.
