In the recent ten years, the Chinese economy has been growing rapidly, and so has China’s global influence. As china becomes more powerful, the ties between China and Ukraine grew stronger, and more and more Ukrainians choose to choose to study, work, and live in China. There has also been an increase in in Sino-Ukrainian cultural exchange, which led to great interest in Chinese culture, history, philosophy among the Ukrainian community. However,Ukrainians face multiple challenges in China, especially when it comes down to cross-cultural conflicts, with the biggest conflict arising out of different ways of thinking. Most of the researches/surveys regarding Sino-Ukrainian cultural exchanges are statistical, and i want to discuss the cultural challenges faced by Ukrainians living in China and provide viable solutions to these challenges. On top of defining cross-cultural communications and discuss its relative importance,i have also interviewed 40 Ukrainians living in Hangzhou,15 men and 25 women.Among these 40 interviewees,i chose the most interesting stories and experiences living in Hangzhou, which can reflect the situations of other Ukrainians living in China. With my survey,i have discovered that Ukrainians in China face challenges due to differences in politeness, time management, privacy, gender equality, receiving and sending gifts, personal dignity as saving faces,as well as meal/banquet rules.Solutions are also recommended for these problems that are being discussed. The interviews included below are a valuable source information for other Ukrainians who are trying to adapt to Chinese lifestyle, and understanding Chinese values and social norms so that they can integrate into Chinese society.
