With the rapid development of China's foreign trade,especially under the further motivation of the " One Belt and One Road ",the exchanges between countries and international trade are also increasingly close,among which the trade of mechanical equipment and electronic products occupies an extremely important position.While entering the foreign market,most products lack accurate and detailed English manuals,which may lead to misunderstanding and misoperation.Therefore,the merchants also pay more attention to the translation quality of the manual.This will also have a crucial role in increasing the sales volume of products and raising awareness.At present,the English translation of the manuals has some problems of mistranslation and low professionalism on the market.There are also some problems with the translation of sentence expressions,terms,and vocabularies in the device manuals.In the process of translation,the paper expounds the research status of such texts at home and abroad.Based on the former study,this paper further analyzes the functions,features,and mistranslation of terminology and low professionalism of vocabulary.Based on Newmark's text typology and the DH3820 hardware instruction manual,this translation practice report combines actual translation practice to explain that the author should pay attention to the stylistic features of the product manual in the process of translation practice.At the same time,the author explores the main use of communicative translation strategies and aided semantic translation strategies to correctly handle the translation of manual texts.Besides,the author studies the use of translation techniques,such as addition and subtraction,to properly process the translation of the content of the manual.In the conclusion,the paper reiterates that the translation of the manual needs not only to pay attention to the accuracy and professionalism of the language,but also the significance of the English translation and the differences in the cultural value and background of the consumer.So that consumers can have a better sense of experience.The research will provide a certain reference for the translation of the instruction manual for equipment products.
