Affect plays an important part in English listening teaching which involves listening and speaking,positive affection of students such as interest,motivation,self-confidence,would promote learning;while negative affection would hinder learning.In addition,paying attention to students' affection is conducive to their physical and mental development.Research on affective teaching has always been around the middle school,high school,non-English majors,but there is no investigation about English listening teaching.Therefore,this paper aims to investigate and study on affective teaching in English listening and remedy the shortcomings of predecessors' research.Based on humanism of Rogers and Maslow,constructivism and krashen's affective hypothesis as theoretical basis,this paper mainly applies the following research methods,questionnaire,interview and observation to survey on teachers and English majors in Wuzhou University.In order to accurately understand the current status of the affective teaching in English listening,the survey is divided into four parts.The first part is about affective factors influencing the listening of students.The second part is students' attitude towards affective teaching.The third part is teachers' attitude towards affective teaching.The last part is the strategies and methods of affective teaching that teacher used.Based on the findings of survey,the following are concluded.1.The students'affective needs were not met.2.The teachers were lack of recognition,skills,strategies,theories and the method of affective teaching.In order to optimize affective teaching in English listening class,as well as to promote student's all-round development,three strategies are proposed in this paper,for example,paying attention to students' affective factors,improving the cultivation of teachers' affection,and optimizing affective teaching in class including class environment,class atmosphere,the teachers' evaluation.Finally,this paper presents education revelations,points out the limitations of this study and prospects for future research.
