As global economy and trade develops rapidly,international construction works have been more than ever before and the translation of tender document is of increasing importance.However,such translation is difficult because of the terminologies and language style.There have been studies on the stylistic features and translation method of tender document on the basis of relevant translation theories,but there remains much room for further study.Therefore,this practice report aims to propose some thinking about the translation of tender document based on the translation practice of Tender Document Volume I for Building Work of Proposed New Double Tree by Hilton Hotel,DRC.from the perspective of skopos theory and text type theory.The theoretical basis of this practice report is the skopos theory of Vermeer,H.J.and the text type theory of Katharina Reiss.As a tender document,the source text aims to inform the requirements of the tendering process and it is a non-literary text with a specific purpose,therefore it is appropriate to choose skopos theory and text type theory as the theoretical basis.Under the guidance of skopos theory and text type theory,the translation purpose and text type of the source text is firstly analyzed to determine the translation strategy.Problems occurred in the translation process is also analyzed from the perspective of skopos theory and text type theory,and relevant strategies are proposed.This practice report mainly consists of five chapters.Chapter I introduces the background of the translation practice,including the background of the subject,the client and the requirements.In Chapter II,the skopos theory of Vermeer,H.J.and the text type theory of Katharina Reiss are introduced.Then the process of the translation practice is described in Chapter III,including the preparation stage,translation stage and check stage.Chapter IV analyzes the problems occurred in the translation and summarizes the translation techniques from the two aspects of vocabulary and sentence.In the end,Chapter V briefly summarizes the experience accumulated from the translation practice as well as the disadvantages.
