At Mid-Ming period,the development of commodity economy changed the citizen's social life and cultural development.In Suzhou area,the strong cultural atmosphere cultivated the citizen's elegance,and provided the favorable cultural and market environment for the development of Wumen Painting School.The flourishing of citizen's culture and the decrease of the literary scholar's status were occurred at the same time,thus leading to the living,secularization and commercialization and other new painting features.The painting in Suzhou area was changed greatly in the period,and it can be reflected in the record on the real life from the painters in Wumen Painting School.The theme of visiting friends was changed from the poem or political connotation to the recording on the life.Under the background and based on the author's combing on the works with the theme of visiting friends in the ancient paintings,the paper classifies the paintings with the theme of visiting friends in Wumen Painting School at the Mid-Ming period with the main research subject at that time.In the research process,the paper makes the longitudinal analysis on the origin of visiting friends paintings via interpreting the classic works from the representative painters,makes the transverse analysis on the paintings with the theme of visiting friends from different painters at the period.The author holds that the feature of the visiting friend paintings in Wumen Painting School at Mid-Ming period is mainly recording the life of scholars rather than the representation of simple life,and they have more profound expression on the life among the meanings contained in the theme of friends.
