With motivation being one of the key factors determining success in second language(L2)learning,strategies in motivating learners should be seen as an ??rtant aspect of the study of L2 motivation. However, empirical investments focusing on motivational strategies are scarce in L2 research, especially in CFL teaching context. Many Chinese teachers abroad are lack of systematic and effective guide on motivational strategies.Consequently, the large-scale empirical survey reported in this paper base on Dornyei and Csizer's(1998)study carried out in Hungary is:81 foreign students of Chinese were asked to rate a list of comprehensive motivational strategies in terms of(1)how much ?? rtance the Chinese teacher attached to these and(2)how ?? the Chinese teacher implemented them in their teaching practice, then 5 students and 2 Chinese teacher were interviewed to talk about their specific cases and feeling on class,to analyze the community and difference between EFL and CFL thus raising motivational strategies of CFL especially for ELTE.We hope that it can cause broad concern on L2 motivational strategies by Chinese teacher. The results indicate that the list of motivational macrostrategies that emerged in this study such as "Proper teacher behavior","Promote learner's self-confidence",“Creating a pleasant classroom climate" and "Recognize students' effort" bears a certain amount of resemblance to the list generated by Dornyei and Csizer's survey amongst Hungarian English teachers, which provides reassurance that at least some motivational strategies especially as "Proper teacher behavior" are transferable across different language contexts. On the other hand,we also found that there are some motivational strategies which couldn't gain attention from both students and teachers, and appear to be underutilized such as "Increase learners' goal-orientedness","Promote learner autonomy" and "Promote group cohesiveness" that drive us to discuss the reason and solution. However, there are also dissimilarities between EFL and CFL,that the most striking difference concerned "Familiarize learners with L2-related values",which was recognized as a key effective motivational strategies in our study yet was perceived as possessing little attention by English teachers and students.
