| There is no doubt that motivation is one of the most important factors that affect L2 learning. Research on motivation for foreign language learning was started in the 1950s by Canadian psychologists, Gardner and Lambert. Although research on motivation for foreign language learning started from the 1980s in China, it is still a relatively new area and most of the research mainly focuses on the importance of motivation. Few people direct their attention to the factors that affect students'foreign language learning motivation, especially the influence of teachers'behaviors on students'foreign language learning motivation. Therefore, the researcher of this thesis carried out a study of the three types of English learning motivation (integrative motivation, instrumental motivation and self-improvement motivation) of college students in China, and their relationships with students'attitude towards learning English, desire to learn English, motivational intensity, English classroom anxiety and achievement, and of the factors that affect student's motivation as well as the influence of teachers'behaviors on students'motivation.The researcher administered a questionnaire on English learning motivation of non-English major students of HIT. The results of the questionnaires were put into computer and analyzed by SPSS. The results indicate that students'attitudes towards learning English have significant correlation with the three types of motivation. The other two variables intensity and desire are strongly correlated with integrative motivation and self-improvement motivation but have no correlation with instrumental motivation.
