An Analysis On Fluency In Russian To Chinese Consecutive Translation

Fluency is considered as a factor in evaluating the interpreter's performance,in which also lies the trust from the client.Therefore,to make a fluent delivery during interpretation is of the same importance with accuracy and adequacy.However,due to several factors,both subjective and objective,interpreter could have difficulty in making a fluent delivery.The reasons may vary.The interpreter may subconsciously repeat the previous words or stutter while choosing the appropriate expression;he might make a long pause so as to understand his notes.Apart from that,his fluency might also drop due to any inappropriate expression in the target language,which could be the result of a misleading note or lack of understanding of the context.Based on the examples extracted from a mock conference done by the author,this essay reveals and concludes the reasons leading to the inefficiency in fluent delivery,mainly focusing on word choosing,as well as gives solutions to the problems occurred.This essay mainly discusses influent expressions in Russian to Chinese consecutive interpretation,and serves as a reference material for future studies in this field.
