Understanding And Translation Of The Terms In Texts Relating To The Automotive Industry With The Help Of Auxiliary Texts

The translation world does not pay too much attention to auxiliary texts and the limited researches made on this field focus mainly on several texts except those with enormous terms that can hardly find direct Chinese version.The author translated a lot of documents with substantial automotive and battery terms when she worked in the Hybird Kinetic Group as a translation intern.During this process,the author realized that auxiliary texts serve as an excellent tool in helping translators with little knowledge about the automotive industry in understanding terms and finding their Chinese version.This paper mainly explains the unique role auxiliary texts play in translating the terms in texts relating to the automotive industry.This paper uses comparative analysis approach,case study method and so on to combine theory with practice.This paper also explains how can the auxiliary texts be used when translating those terms,as well as how to efficiently find and select proper auxiliary texts in order to help translators understand and translate.This paper shows translators with no experience in the automotive industry how to make better use of auxiliary texts.
