Analysis On Logic Issues In Chinese To English Consecutive Interpreting

Interpreters should not just translate words.They need to analyze what the speakers say and convey the message in the target language.The core purpose of interpretation is to help speakers communicate effectively by deverbalization and reformulation.This requires interpreters to put a high value on logic.In Chinese-English interpretation,interpreters first need to be aware of redundant Chinese linking words while listening to the speech.Meanwhile,they need to use logic symbols in note-taking.Finally,they need to analyze the logic of the original speech correctly.They could also add linking words in their interpretation to make it cohesive and coherent.Based on a case study,this paper aims to discuss logic in Chinese to English consecutive interpretation.In the first chapter,the paper outlines the importance of logic in interpretation.In chapter two,it explains logic problems during interpreting from three perspectives,namely,redundant Chinese linking words,note-taking and understanding of the original speech.The last chapter lists ways to improve logic in interpreting.
