A Report Of Escort Interpretation For 2016 International Exhibition For Young Inventors

This report is based on International Exhibition for Young Inventors.Focused on sports and entertainment,disaster response,and safety and health,the exhibition has been successfully held 11 times in the past few years.The interpreter takes part in the12^th exhibition.The interpreting tasks are associated with lots of aspects of the event,for example,interpreting for judges and competitors,as well as interpreting for Chinese and Japanese staff at scene.In this report,the interpreter puts the interpretation between judges and competitors as the main events,analyzes the difficulties in interpreting tasks,and selects the relevant interpreting strategies.This report includes four chapters.The first chapter is the task description of interpretation practice,in which the writer makes a brief introduction of the features of exhibition interpreting,the background of International Exhibition for Young Inventors,as well as the requirement of the task.The second chapter involves the stages of the practice task.The interpreter divides the whole task into three procedures:the preparatory step before interpreting,the interpreting in progress and the assessment after interpreting.Preparation before the interpretation is important,including the preparation of glossary and selection of parallel text.The writer analyzes the text features so as to determine the overall interpreting strategy,as well as some potential emergencies and relevant solutions,and then the consignor puts forward quality feedback and indicates the objective solutions to interpreters.The third chapter is about some translation problems and coping strategies,which is the core chapter in the report.The writer analyzes the practice content and sums up the problems in scientific English,including the translation and interpretation of scientific and technical terms,long difficult sentences,and studies the accent problems of foreign judges.The writer also summarizes coping strategies of some interpreting difficulties using relevant theories and practical experience.The fourth chapter discusses the inspirations of the task,including essential competence of exhibition interpreters,the problems in the process of interpreting and relevant reflection,as well as inspirations of practical tasks.
