Using word order and functional word to show grammatical meaning is one of the characteristics of Modern Chinese Language,and that is why Chinese are so different from English and Malay.There is little functional word learning for elementary students but that not means functional word are easy to learn.According to data analysis,the error of conjunction word HE is a kind of general and typical error in Universiti Utara Malaysia(UUM).Therefore,the analysis of these errors and the strategies to reduce them has a great significance.The paper will take Malaysia as background.We have spent two semesters in collecting corpus in using conjunction word HE by UUM elementary mandarin learners.The other part of HE corpus comes from HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus under BCC Modern Chinese Corpus.After that,we make a quantitative and qualitative analysis of all sentences with conjuncture word HE,and compare the error type differences between different levels of mandarin learners.Finally,we discuss why these errors occur and how we can prevent them from three aspects: teaching material,mandarin lecturers and mandarin learners.The paper will be divided into four chapters:Chapter One: Introduction.This chapter will tell the object,methods of the study.In the meantime,it introduces the current situation of studies that are related to the error analysis of the Chinese conjunction word HE.Chapter Two: Study of the Chinese conjunction word HE.By searching various dictionaries and the previous study of Chinese conjunction word,we summarize the general meaning of conjunction word HE and the grammatical rules of using it.Chapter Three: Error analysis of Chinese conjunction word HE.This chapter analyzes error corpus collected from Beijing Language and Culture University’s HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus and paper material from UUM level one and level two mandarin learners.Firstly,we sum up the quantity of UUM learners and HSK candidate’s error,and then calculate the error rate separately.Secondly,we compare the differences of error quantity and error rate between different levels of students.Finally,we sort out the error types for both levels in UUM and analyze different corpus types of HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus.Chapter Four: Countermeasures of Chinese conjunction word HE errors.On the basis of the above error type analysis,this paper tries to find out the reasons of Chinese conjunction word HE error and think about the countermeasures to reduce and prevent these kind of error.
