With the development of the society,it proves that unhappiness comes from too many options for most people.When it comes to the graduates who are about to start their career,each choice is as painful as a delivery.So psychologists of Occupational Psychology have applied themselves to establish more comprehensive model and develop a more reliable scale,in order to make it easier for clients who have problem in making a career decision to make the suitable choice.Traditional theory of career decision-making assumes that people are totally rational man in making career decisions to choose an occupation which fully meet their expectations.But further researches find that the hypothesis of rational man is incomplete as each individual's choice is always under some constrains of family,financial and abilities.Accordingly,today's Occupational Psychology pay more attention on internal process of decision making and they believe that Work Volition is defined as the perceived capacity to make occupational choices despite constraints,and it has important theoretical and practical meaning to exploring the influence mechanism of work volition on career adaptabilityThrough revising the Work Volition Scale-Student Version(WVS-SV),its reliability and validation is tested,and the relationship between work volition and career adaptability is explored.In Study 1,we revised the WVS-SV,tested the reliability and validity of the scale among Chinese college students.In Study 2,we have tested the relationship between work volition and career adaptability,and found that calling and CDSE to be totally mediated the relationship.The conclusions are follows:(1)The Work Volition Scale-Student Version has acceptable psychometric quality,which could be used in China.(2)Work volition,career adaptability,CDSE and calling have significantly correlated with each other.(3)The direct effect of work volition on career adaptability is not significant,which indicated that work volition could not directly predict career adaptability.(4)CDSE and calling play a mediating role between work volition and career adaptability.
