The long history of Chinese art represents unique aesthetic culture in China.The reason why it is inherited and unique is that Chinese art is developed under the philosophical system of Confucianism and Taoism.Therefore,the aesthetic theory produced in the long run of Chinese art practice embodies the natural view of"harmony between man and nature"of Confucianism and Taoism.Because of the different foundation of art,our art can monopolize in the forest of human art.As with the idea of“taking advantage of Western science and technology”being widely accepted in the late 19~thh century,Chinahas received global recognition during the westernization of Chinese literature,art,education,science and technology.The history of jewelry is also long,but the concept of jewelry design was imported from the west during the period when the reform and opening-up policy was implemented.Then the design of jewelry in China is constantly being self-aware and introspection at the same time as the followers of the western aesthetic trend.All kinds of elements in Chinese traditional culture are used in jewelry design.But I think that the design of jewelry in China today is not a variety of design elements,but a lack of designers who have inherited the cultural spirit of the nation.The thesis studies the enlightenment from the scholar’s aesthetic on jewelry design,attempting to discover Chinese aesthetic principles in ancient aesthetics and explore what kind of inspiration it has on the design of jewelry.The first three chapters mainly introduce the background of the thesis,the relationship between Chinese literati and Chinese ancient aesthetics,and the development of jewelry design in China.The fourth chapter is the core of this article.From the Chinese classical aesthetic theory,seven representative aesthetic propositions are selected to find out the contents of jewelry design.The author selected seven representative aesthetic propositions from the Chinese classical aesthetics theory to elaborate.These seven propositions are mainly from the design of the designer,the relationship between"thought"and"shape"in the design,the creation of"image"in the design,and the aesthetic evaluation of jewelry products is discussed.Based on Chinese classical aesthetics,we try to find and establish a junior cognitive theory of jewelry design.This chapter also demonstrates the author’s personal view on the aesthetic principles influenced by the current mainstream in China.The fifth chapter,as the conclusion of the thesis,stressing the importance of Chinese philosophy and aesthetic principles.WhatChinese jewelry designers lack are not skills、materials or the stories.It is the lack of understanding of the traditional aesthetic principles and the inheritance of Chinese classical art.
