Throughout the Chinese painting circles, the regional painting schools are booming with their own characteristics, and have greatly enriched the art treasure of our country.Under the background of globalization and modernization, with the frequent domestic and international cultural exchange, the collision and fusion of culture of various countries brought about by the Internet, and the contemporary art being rooted in the soil of the Chinese art with strong vitality, the regional culture has been gradually homogenized, and the survival and development of traditional Chinese painting schools have been impacted tremendously. The development of some painting schools has become stagnated or even lost to history. The research data concerning a certain painting school in our country is abundant and deep, but the cross-regional and cross-dimensional comparative study on the style of the painting schools is to be added. This thesis is mainly divided into the following five parts:The first chapter starts from the survey of the Lijiang painting school's rise and development, and the creative spirit of returning to natural aesthetic orientation and ethnic feelings, and presents the unique regional view of the Lijiang painting school and the embedded national culture and humanistic spirit. The second chapter reviews the Changzhou painting school's sequence of thought, narrates its historic origin, and presents its creative Mogo thoughts by replacing ink with color and by portraying the beauty of image rhythm with pretty and smooth paintbrush to express the humanistic spirit of tranquility and relaxation and the life feelings by means of artistic expression. The third chapter carries out a comparative study of the similarities and differences between the artistic style of Lijiang painting school and Changzhou painting school. It also contrasts the differences and commonalities of the subject matter, art of composition, pen and ink language, artistic conception expression and art thoughts of the two painting schools' artists. The fourth chapter digs into the limitations of the Lijiang painting school and Changzhou painting school with an eye to the mutual reference and complementary development of the two schools. The fifth chapter summarizes the research value of the regional painting schools, inherits the traditional culture spirit of the painting schools, promotes the development of the painting school localization, and analyses the development trend of the regional schools.Through the comparative study of the artistic style of Lijiang painting school and Changzhou painting school under the regional culture background, the limitations of the two painting schools are pointed out in the thesis whereby the two schools are suggested to take example by and complement each other. The thesis also puts forward some constructive suggestions for the future development. The comparative study on the regional painting school style is helpful to exploring the inherent law of painting school formation, seeking the artist and style orientational relationship, investigating the interactive development between the artist group and the paintings, and promoting the local art, regional culture and ethnic culture development. The cross-regional and cross-dimensional contrast of the regional painting schools helps look into the deficiency of regional painting schools to promote the mutual learning and sustainable development, explores the development laws of art in a more comprehensive, developmental and holistic way,and promotes the regional cultural construction and development,so as to provide referential basis for the research of the diversification of Chinese art.
