A Practice Report On The Simultaneous Interpreting Of The 3rd China Rock Climbing Summit

On August 4,2016,the International Olympic Committee announced that rock climbing will be an official event of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.Against this backdrop,on February 15,2017(Wednesday),the 3rd China Rock Climbing Summit was held at the China National Convention Center.The report was written according to part of this conference interpretation practice.The report consists of five chapters: task description;process description;preparations for interpreting;case analysis;summary.In the chapter of case analysis,I have presented some translation principles and strategies briefly,summarized both the cases of faithful interpreting and unfaithful interpreting and analyzed the possible causes of incorrect interpretation,word-for-word interpretation and missed interpretation.The conclusion is that when interpreting any word or sentence,one must take the context into account and if not so,it will be very difficult for the listener to understand the interpretation.During the process of interpreting,the literal translation is used to keep the full meaning while the free translation is to extract the meaning.So interpreters should improve their quick-response abilities to deal with the common sentences and enhance their translation shifting abilities to cope with the difficult sentences,thus providing the basis for successful interpreting activities.
