Wang Dulu,a well-known martial arts novelist in the 1930 s and 1940 s of China,was titled the Great Five Martial Arts Novelists in Northern China with Li Shoumin,Gong Baiyu,Zheng Zhengyin and Zhu Zhenmu by later ages.The Crane-Iron Pentalogy is his representative works.At present,the study of Wang Dulu is rich,but it's not very full,deep and detailed.There is no integrated survey of it based on the ethical narration.Since the Republic of China,especially after the May Fourth new trend,the traditional ethical value system in China had faced a great challenge of new value,which caused a situation of transition from the old to the new.Under the complex background of the transition,problems like people's ethical choices,ethical dilemma and ethical anxiety were worth studying.Therefore,this thesis takes Wang Dulu's the Crane-Iron Pentalogy as object of study and specifically analyzes the revenge ethical narration and the love ethical narration.The introduction part sums up the study status of the topic and points out that it is necessary and valuable to explain the Crane-Iron Pentalogy from the perspective of the ethical narration.The first chapter analyzes the revenge ethical narration in the Crane-Iron Pentalogy.Based on the ethical environment where the novel was created,this thesis analyzes the traditional revenge ethics and the newly developing revenge ethics,then discusses the development and change of the revenge ethics of the text compared with the previous martial arts novels.The thesis also analyzes Wang Dulu's rational thinking on the traditional revenge ethics in the Crane-Iron Pentalogy.The second chapter analyzes the love ethical narration in the Crane-Iron Pentalogy.Through the comparison with love ethical narration in previous martial arts novels,this paper discusses the improvement of the narration of love ethics in the Crane-Iron Pentalogy.It analyzes the appeal for love of the ethical subject,researches the dilemma of ethical subject in the conflict between the love ethics and other ethics,and reveals their ethical anxiety and spiritual struggle.The last part concludes this thesis,pointing out that the Crane-Iron Pentalogy of Wang Dulu pays close attention to person's inner ethical situation and forms ultimate concern about the meaning of life.
