On The Cultural Breakthrough Of Spike Lee’s Films

The pluralistic ideology of the United States has created the pattern of internal multicultural symbiosis,but the black culture has long been marginalized due to racism.As the representative of the American film,Hollywood Wantonly distort the image of blacks,which makes it criticized.Black filmmaker with outstanding artistic talent,never give up the efforts in the film.For blacks,the history of the development of black film is also a process to see equality and defend their cultural dignity,full of hardships and twists and turns.Spike Lee,as a representative of the black independent film,finally makes the black film into the mainstream field of vision.He actively challenged the mainstream ideology of American cinema,insisting on displaying black society and culture in his works.So he could be regarded as the black hero of culture in contemporary times.In this paper,Spike Lee will be the object of my study.First,i will look back at at the history of the development of African-American movies,reveal that Hollywood how to distort the black image in films.And then from the perspective of folk culture to analyze the works of Spike Lee,trying to show the internal relationship between Spike Lee’s works and black culture.Finally,i will describe his efforts as a spokesman for the black culture to achieve the black cultural breakthrough,demonstrated that Spike Lee as a pioneer film person’s identity.
