| This is an English Chinese translation project report based on the Materials and Methods in ELT by Jo McDonough and Christopher Shaw.Nowadays with the great achievements made in China’s economy,science and technology,political and other aspects,the study and the usage of foreign languages have reached an unprecedented scale and English language teaching has become an increasing concern.This book(Materials and Methods in ELT,A Teacher’s Guide)puts teaching theories into practice and shows the latest news in the materials and methods in ELT.According to the content and the Text Type Theory,the source text is defined as the informative text.In the process of the translation,the communicative translation strategy and various translating skills were adopt,including addition and omission,splitting and merging,conversion,etc.in the level of vocabulary,sentence and discourse.The author strives to original meaning of the original text through the analysis,self-examination and conclusion.This report is divided into five parts.The first part gives an introduction on the background,target and the meaning of this project.The second describes the details,including the introduction of source text and the whole process of the translation.The third concerns the translation theory in this project,namely the Communicative Translation Strategy.The fourth illustrates the analysis,problems and solutions in the project.And in the last part,the author makes a conclusion for the translation project and summarizes those shortcomings. |
