The purpose of our study was to explore the dimension structure of compassion of college students' compassion in the Chinese culture background,and develop college students' compassion scale on the basis of this dimension,understanding the current situation of college students' compassion.Results:By comprehensively using the method of literature,expert evaluation and discussion,open volume investigation,our study determined the theoretical dimension of the scale,and formed the initial questionnaire accordingly.After the preliminary survey,a analysis and exploratory factor analysis was made for the data item many times.After repeated delete items,our study finally got four dimensions in conformity with our theoretical construction: Transpositional consideration,Feel as if in person,Charitable altruism,and Happy for others,and form a survey questionnaire.After testing again,a exploratory factor analysis was carried out on the sample data,to explore the the fitting degree of between theory model and the sample data,and form the formal questionnaire.Then the formal questionnaire was measured again,and a descriptive statistics and difference test was made for the data collected to understand the current situation of college students' compassion.The results showed that:(1)College students' compassion scale consists of the following four dimensions:Transpositional consideration,Feel as if in person,Charitable altruism,and Happy for others.(2)The college students' compassion scale and it ' s dimension had good internal consistency reliability(the total scale was 0.816,Transpositional consideration was 0.790,Feel as if in person was 0.754,Charitable altruism was 0.744,Happy for others was 0.662)and test-retest reliability(the total scale was 0.788,Transpositional consideration was0.806,Feel as if in person was 0.783,Charitable altruism was 0.727,Happy for others was0.658),the content validity and construct validity(the correlation coefficient between the total scale and each dimension ranged from 0.6 to 0.8;the correlation coefficient betweenthe dimensions ranged from 0.2 to 0.4;the fit index was also consistent with the psychological measurement standard).(3)college students scored higher than average(M > 3)on the compassion scale,had a high level of compassion.(4)there are significant gender differences on College students' Charitable altruism,and Happy for others.Specifically,girls' score on Charitable altruism was higher than males(t = 2.088,p < 0.05),and girls' score on Happy for others was higher than males too(t = 2.059,p < 0.05).(5)there is uneven development level of college students' compassion,freshman's compassion was in highest level,Sophomore's compassion level is lowest;there is a rebound in compassion level in the third grade.(6)there is a significant professional nature differences on college students' score in the total scale and Charitable altruism.Specifically,liberal arts students' score on Charitable altruism was higher than the science students' score(t = 9.040,p < 0.001),and liberal arts students' score on the total scale was higher than the science students' score too(t = 4.795,p < 0.001).
