A Study On Business English Interpretation Based On The Interpretive Theory

This paper takes the interpretive theory as a subject to discuss,making an in-depth study into the application of the theory to business English interpretation.According to the interpretive theory,interpretation is a communicative activity which depends on the interpreter’s knowledge within and out of language.With “The Triangular Process” of interpretive theory as the guiding principle,this paper makes a case study of business English interpretation,with an aim to guide the interpretation practice of business English and offer some practical suggestions to its learners.This paper consists of three parts.The first part introduces the background and significance of the study,including the relevant theoretical research at home and abroad;the second part serves as the theoretical basis,discussing the interpretive theory.It first gives an account of the interpretive theory,with its focus on “The Triangular Process”,pointing out its core contents and makes a summary of its application in different fields.The third part analyzes the features of business English and points out the difficulty of business English interpretation.It then further analyzes the guiding function of “The Triangular Process” to business English interpretation.The concluding part is a summary of the main content of the paper,pointing out the inadequacy and the possible research direction in the future.
