Xuzhou lies in the north part of Jiangsu Province,and it is famous for the culture of Han Dynasty.There are a large number of Han tombs with stone sculptures founded in Xuzhou area.Stone columns from stone sculptured tombs of Han Dynasty are the essential part of the tomb and play an important role of it.This essay talks about the basic research of the stone columns.According to the study of it,the author is about to start the discuss of structure and position of a tomb.Based on the materials already found,the author has made a statistics of the stone columns found in Xuzhou area.This article makes a classification of stone columns from the angles——the decoration of a tomb,the structure of it,the carving skills of the patterns.After doing the research about columns,it comes some conclusions including the rules how the columns positioned in the tomb.In addition,the author still makes a detail instruction of how the foreign culture combines with the local culture in Han Dynasty.The affection of the foreign culture was huge in Han Dynasty and still has an essential effect nowadays.Combined with the Belt and Road strategy,this article discusses the communication of the foreign culture with the Han Dynasty's culture.There are four parts in this essay.Part one makes a brief introduction about the study of pillars from Stone Sculptured Han Tomb.It includes the researchers from froeign countries and most of them are from China.Part two is the main chapter with the classification of columns.The author collected more than seventy columns,and most of them were made in East Han Dynasty.According to the different aspects,columns can be divided into some types.For example,there are columns used as pillars to the whole tomb and there are some tombs lie under the tomb doors and the tomb windows according to its function and position,etc.Part three is about the patterns on the stone sculptures.There are almost sixty pictures collected with the image of column.Part four explains the communication of the culture of Han Dynasty with foreign cultures especially the Greek.From the patterns and structures of the pillars,it is obvious that Han Dynasty was the time that China had connected with foreign countries very tidely.The last part is the conclusion of the whole passage.
