| Popular Science Writing aims to popularize scientific knowledge.With the constant progress of human society,science and technology has been widely used in our work and lives.However,the study of popular science translation is not equivalent to its great significance,especially the corpus-based translation studies(CTS)on the popular science translation are still in the blank appearance.The report takes as the study object the translation practice of an excerpt from Explore the Mysteries of Oil Underground: Oil Geology.CTS are applied to the translation in order to make the target language more accurate and native.Compared to other common sci-tech texts,popular science is easier to understand and it plays an important role in people’s lives.So the target language should be acceptable to the common people as well.The translation features of popular science texts will be discussed depending on these points.The whole report is composed of four parts,which mainly includes the task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.The writer hopes this report will offer readers the experience on both popular science translation and the application of the monolingual mini-corpus. |
