This is a report on the translation of the novel Half Brother,written by a renowned Canadian writer of children literature,Kenneth Oppel.This novel tells a story about a 13-year-old teenager Ben and a baby chimpanzee Zan adopted by Ben's parents.The description of the relationship between the baby chimp and humans provokes us to think about how people can live in harmony with the nature.This report aims at representing the translation process and showing the translator's problems and solutions.It is made up of four parts: task description,process description,case study and conclusion.Task description briefly introduces the book Half Brother,its author,its main contents and the reasons for choosing it.The process description describes the whole translation process from three aspects: the preparation before translation,the translation working schedule and the post-translation works.In case study,the translator mainly tells the problems she encountered in her translation,such as how to translate proper nouns,polysemy and complex sentences,and then specifically shows her solutions at lexical level and syntactic level with several examples.At the end of this report are the translator 's conclusion about her major findings and limitations of the translation practice and her suggestions for translating similar works.
