This is a report on the translation of Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement,which is published in 2015.With regard to the translated section,the source of this translation project are some parts of TPP Agreement,including Preface,Tariffs and Trade Subsidies,Electronic Commerce and final provisions.Guided by the Register Theory(Field,Tenor and Mode)of Halliday,this report takes TPP Agreement as a study object and analyzes selected original text from translation difficulties,diction and understanding of long sentences by the aid of case analysis method.The translator concludes that: In translating a specific agreement text,translators are expected to,firstly,guarantee the conveyance of the information and content of the source text in pursuit of a reproduction of its meanings and functions;secondly,preserve its style as much as possible,because language style is of great significance to business English.They are not expected to ignore the representation of the style because of the differences between English and Chinese.This report falls into four chapters which are composed of the introduction of the translation project,the completion process of the project,analysis of translation and Conclusion.Chapter One has a brief introduction to the translation project,which includes the introduction to the source of the project,the description of the text and the structure of the translation report.Chapter two mainly focuses on the completion process of this project,including the preparation of translation,the process of translation and the modification process of the translation.Chapter three analyzes the application of the translation theories with the assist of case study.Conclusion is the main content of chapter four,which will be discussed from two respects-knowledge acquired from translation and room for improvement.
