| A high-quality Spoken Chinese Textbooks can make students’Chinese learning get twice the result with half the effort and the session in the teaching material as the input material plays an important role in students outputting appropriate words.It is necessary to use the method of conversation analysis to analyze the artificial writing session from the perspectives of functional items,adjacency pairs and conversational structure,combining with the table of topics and the outline of functions.This paper intends to evaluate the quality of conversations in Developing Chinese(2nd Edition)from four perspectives which are topics,functional items,adjacency pairs and conversational structure in light of Conversation Analysis.From the aspect of topics,comparing the grading target and the table of Chinese teaching topics and content in International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education and LüRonglan’word list for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language,we found that the topics the textbooks chose conforms to the Level 1 Level 2 Level 3and Level 4 of"International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education",and covers half of LüRonglan’word list.Additionally there are some extra topics such as talking about his personal life in the textbooks,which is appropriate.Two intermediate textbooks involved the discussion of social phenomenon,including philosophical story,regional differences,which is timely and interesting.But the topics like seeing a doctor,barber,birthday,pet which often occurs in other primary teaching material,and is often used in daily life do not appear in the textbooks.The topics like Love,marriage,holiday culture should be covered in the intermediate textbooks.From the perspective of verbal communication form,we found that the functional topics plummet,the narrative topics steadily increases and view topics increases the fastest with the increasement of the level of spoken textbooks.This trend is in conformity with the Writing principles which is from easy to difficult.The topics in textbooks are spiral repetition,but the arrangement of shopping and diet topics does not conform to the students’learning needs.Besides,the degree of difficulty of the turn is appropriate.From the aspect of the types of function,comparing the 110 functional items in Foreign Language Teaching Syllabus for College Students(Long Term),we found that it’s necessary to increase the functional items.The textbooks add 10 extra functional items,which are often used in daily life.There are 19 functional items which are not included in the textbooks but in the outline,and 17 of which are included in other outlines.It’s necessary to select these topics.Referring to“A Quantitative Analysis of the Functional Category in Chinese as a Foreign Language”written by Ni chuanbin etc,we find that the textbooks accords with the written law which is from easy to difficult,but the primary textbookⅡselect the functional items which are not often used.It may increase the difficulty of the students’learning in the primary stage.In light of the types of adjacency pairs concluded by Liu Hong(2004),we found out that the textbooks should improve the coverage of different types of adjacency pairs because of the imbalance in their frequency.Types of enquiry and presentation account for large proportion and the proportion of other types of adjacency pairs is small and uneven.It is necessary to add different structures based on students’learning level and needs.It is unbalanced between preferred and dispreferred organizations.The proportion of dispreferred organizations is too low.There are seven dispreferred organizations which did not appear in the textbooks.In addition,combing Liu Hong’s(2004)research on conversational structure,We found that its structure take up various forms and adjacency pairs have the biggest amount,which is largely in line with oral Chinese.We also found that the number of adjacency pairs in these four textbooks increases with the increasement of the difficulty of textbooks.In the Intermediate Textbooks,which conform to what Liu Hong(2004)said that the answer sequence enable speakers to switch the role relationship,which conforms to the active and friendly interaction in daily life.Overall,we found that the quality of these textbooks are not bad,but it’s necessary to improve the choice and arrangement of topics、functional items and conversational structure. |
