| The diving verses of primary sacrificial Mazu Statue temple and of auxiliary sacrificial Mazu Statue Temple in Penang of Malaysia are selected as the research objects.The essential problems of fortune-telling sortition belief are analyzed through collecting and researching the Penang Mazu fortune-telling sortition.Further the heritage and development of fortune-telling sortition,as the part of temple,under the contemporary social environment are discussed.The main part of this thesis includes three chapters,which mainly discuss the origin,religious characteristics and social influence of Mazu in Penang.The origin and development of China native Mazu fortune-telling sortition are illustrated in the second chapter.Additionally in this chapter,the overview of fortune-telling sortition is carried out on the basis of previous researches of fortune-telling sortition conducted by Chinese mainland scholars,and the origin of Chinese mainland Mazu fortune-telling sortition culture,the Chinese mainland Mazu belief and the patterns of Mazu fortune-telling sortition are concluded.The collected Mazu materials are concluded and collated,and the Mazu temples in Penang region are differentiated and recorded from the perspective of geographical condition through investing the Chinese immigrant groups and the distribution of Tin Hay Temple.The history of Chinese immigration and the Mazu belief are briefly described through social investigation and material reference.In the mean time,the fortune-telling sortition in Mazu temples are collated and analyzed,and the reasons of the appearance and wide application of 60 Jiazi fortune-telling sortition in Penang are explored.The viewpoint of this phenomenon of this paper is proposed on that basis,that the generation and development of cultural phenomenon are closely bound by the group of people,environment and time.The relations between human and god embodied in the Mazu fortune-telling sortition of Penang region is mainly analyzed.For this reason,the implication of fortune-telling sortition verses is categorized as two aspects,the ethics and destiny view,and is discussed further.The analysis thereon proves that the generation and developmentof cultural phenomenon are closely bound by the group of people,environment and time.Moreover,the localized life scenes of Chinese people are revealed.The conclusion is drawn that Malaysia where overseas Chinese have abundant beliefs is in face of the economic,cultural and social environment changes.The folk religions and cultures of overseas Chinese are progressively changed,and accordingly the Mazu fortune-telling sortition is influenced by these changes.As the vital belief form of Chinese people's temple,the appearance and development of Mazu fortune-telling sortition are not only the continuity of traditional Chinese religious... |
