The Study Of Chinese Network Buzzwords From The Perspective Of Language Diversity And Dynamics

Network buzzwords are products of the emerging network era,which are like mirrors reflecting all the aspects of social life.With the popularity of Internet,the ever-changing network buzzwords attract more and more people's attention.As a new language phenomenon,linguists take them as a new research target to study their formation,classification and characteristics.However,in the process of research,some linguists view them as a supplementary of Chinese and believe they can enrich and invigorate modern culture,while others regard them as language dregs which will destroy the standardized Chinese system and pollute Internet environment.With the approaching of ecological crisis in our society,people pay increasing attention to all the issues related to ecology.Therefore in recent years,ecological environment,eco-tourism,eco-industry and many eco-terms come into being,which also promotes the existence of many new disciplines,like eco-philosophy,eco-aesthetics and eco-translation.Ecology has gradually evolved from a professional term into a novel research methodology to provide researchers with a new way to view the world.Under such background,linguists also take ecology as enlightenment and form a new discipline called eco-linguistics,short for ecological linguistics,which is a study of language and ecology.Under the theoretical framework of eco-linguistics,language diversity and dynamics are two major theories.Considering the contradictory opinions on network buzzwords,the author takes the top ten network buzzwords ranked by the journal of Yaowen Jiaozi and major websites of China,like Baidu and Sina Weibo from 2008 to 2016 as corpus to study the network buzzwords from the angle of language diversity and dynamics in order to enrich the current academic study.Based on the theoretical analysis and the questionnaire's results of college students' attitude,it can be seen that the existence and development of network buzzwords conform to the theory of language diversity and dynamics and we are supposed to have a tolerant attitude towards network buzzwords to promote their development and perfection and further to include them into normal Chinese system under certain regulation.
