This article will report on the news trans-editing practice during my internship in Shanghai Financial Information and News Translation Co Ltd.(FINTS)from March to August in 2016.The trans-edited texts have covered a wide range of topics from the national macro financial policy news, such as the politically regulatory specifications towards Chinese financial market carried out by China Securities Regulatory Commission and other related authoritative departments,to the mergers and acquisitions,or equity transfer among enterprises, and even the trends of certain popular industries including the real estate market.Given the multiplicity of the topics and texts, this report is conducted on the basis of quantitative and qualitative analysis, exemplifications and illustrations as well as deduction and induction, summarizing the linguistic features and functional characteristics of financial news. The report draws the research findings of Reiss' Text Typology Theory to examine the problems encountered in the English financial news trans-editing,thus summarizing trans-editing techniques and solutions,so as to provide reference for trans-editing texts of the same type and guidance for the author's subsequent Chinese financial news trans-editing.
