A Report On The Translation Of Four Business Agreements

Business agreement is a kind of contractual document,in which,on the basis of reaching consensus,individuals or organizations establish a series of specific rights and obligations for all parties involved.Linguistically,it is formal;logically,it is well-knit in structure.The selected materials for this translation practice are four business agreements,which involve a commodity-related subcontract,sales and insurance agreements.These materials are closely related to our economic cooperation,with practical value.This translation practice is made up of task description,process description,case analysis and summary.The first part is task description.The translator gave a brief introduction of the content,the research object and the research significance.The second part is process description,which is divided into two aspects.One is the preparation before translation,and the other is process analysis.The preparation before translation contains five parts:preparation of background information,parallel texts,glossary,translation tools and translation theory.In the translation theory part the translator introduced the theories he had applied in translation process.These theories are about semantic translation,communicative translation,and text typology.In the analysis of process,the focus is on specific process and the difficult points in translation practice.The third part is case analysis.The translator analyzed the translation methods which had been used to solve the problems in translating words and sentences,based on semantic translation and communicative translation theory,which contain cross validation method to confirm the exact meaning of the specialized words and some special methods to solve the problems of long sentence translation.Based on the translation practice,a deeper understanding about the translation standards of the business agreement has been acquired,which will guide the further translation in this field.
