Hanban appoint many full-time Chinese teachers and volunteers to the Confucius Institutes and Confucius classrooms around the world every year.However,a considerable part of people can not be proficient in language of the country they post.According to the survey,only 15% of the teachers who work in the Confucius Institute at Santa Maria Catholic University are Spanish major.Most teachers are Spanish zero-based or need to continue to learn Spanish in Peru.And Chinese teachers will use different media-language because of their different level of Spanish.Of course,teaching effectiveness also will be different.What kind of media language we can use? How to use the media language correctly to make the best teaching effect?All the above are important issues in Chinese mandarin teaching.This study investigates the medium language usage in the Confucius Institute at Santa Maria Catholic University.Based on this research goal,we chose 3 teachers and more than30 students as samples.Data collection was mainly from classroom observation and questionnaires.This research is aimed at putting forward some effective suggestion and significant ideas on how to use of medium language in Chinese teaching in Peru.This thesis consists of five parts: the first part is an introduction which mainly introduces the research purpose,significance,history and current situation of the research,the basis of the research,as well as the object of investigation of the paper.The second part is the case analysis.We have chosen three teachers with different levels of foreign language and students as research objects.And we recorded and selected the typical cases to describe and analyze the 3 classroom situations.Through the analysis we found these teachers will not consciously used the media language in the teaching process.The situation of teachers' use of media language is closely related to the students' Chinese level and classroom needs.And the third part is the questionnaire survey.This part takes more than 30 students of the Confucius Institute at Santa Maria Catholic University as the object of investigation,to investigate the situation of the use of media language in the process of Chinese teaching and know students' expectations of teachers' situation of using media language and their foreign language level.Through the investigation we analyzed the case study of the use of the media language,and summarize the problems and reasons when using media language.At last,we put forward the students' expectation of teaching language.The forth part is the reflection on the investigation and study of teaching media language.We mainly summarize the advantages and disadvantages of the media language usage and put forward our suggestions on the use of media language.The last part is the conclusion.The innovation of this study is the national survey.We mainly take the Chinese teaching of Confucius Institute of the Confucius Institute at Santa Maria Catholic University as the object of the research and give our suggestions and on reflections on using media language.In the process of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,teachers have to grasp the amount and degree of media language usage.As well,teachers should use Spanish and English in different teaching stages and links properly.We hope that this study can provide references for the use of media language in the process of Chinese teaching as a foreign language.At the same time,as a case study,there are some limitations in this paper,so it needs more targeted analysis for the use of teaching media in other countries.At last,we discuss the defects and deficiencies of this research.
