Going Global Via Cloud-based Solutions-an Internship Report Of Wikipedia Medical Translation Project Management

This practice report originates from the internship about a global medical translation project with Wikipedia in June 2015.The report elaborates on the author’s role as a project coordinator intern in managing the online multilingual translation project.It introduces the background of Wikipedia medical translation project sponsored by the non-profit organization Translators Without Borders,dates back to the preparation phase of the project and describes its implementation process.With a detailed analysis,the author compares the cloud-based services with conventional translation solutions,summaries their similarities and differences,analyzes the merits and demerits of translation in the cloud,and comes up with several coping strategies for its further improvement.With the specific case study,the author hopes that this report would provide some insights for language specialists who are interested in translation in the cloud or the associated management,and act as a beneficial reference in seeking the best practice for the management of globalized translation projects.
