In cultural industries,film undoubtedly occupies a pivotal position.Film title is the entrance for audience to get to know film.The quality of film title translation directly affects the artistic presentation and commercial appeal of the film,so its importance is self-evident.Aesthetics reception,considering readers as center,holds that authors should give full consideration to readers' social experience,language habits and aesthetic tendency in the process of writing,namely the readers' horizon of expectations,because this can make the translation easier to be understood by narrowing the aesthetic gap.According to the view of reception aesthetics,audience's understanding and reception are the starting point and destination of the film title translation.Meanwhile,reception aesthetics provides a new perspective and thinking mode on the relationship between film and audience for us.Currently,few studies on film translation in our country focus on the translation from Chinese to English.To effectively improve the quality of Chinese film title translation and make Chinese film be accepted easily by audiences in English speaking countries,the thesis takes aesthetics reception as theoretical basis and film title translation from Chines to English as research object.Then the author summarizes the guiding functions of reception aesthetics for Chinese film title translation through the studies of mistranslation or improper translation of some Chinese film titles in recent years.Some feasible translation strategies are also put forward to achieve the fusion of reader's reception-centered expectations and enhance readers' aesthetic demand-centered appeal with different translating techniques as free translation,creative translation,literal translation,transliteration,parody translation as well as adaption translation to improve the acceptability of the translation of Chinese film titles.Meanwhile,the research on Chinese film title translation into English may draw translators' attention in the new era.What's more,it is hopeful that this paper would provide a new perspective and reference for the future research in the related field.
