A Report On A Business Interpreting

With the rapid economic globalization,there have been more frequent exchanges between China and foreign countries.More foreign businesses are trying to explore the Chinese market and more Chinese businesses are seeking opportunities to go global.In order to do business and make investments,people need to communicate with each other.While language is an obstacle,many Chinese businessmen couldn't speak English,even if they can speak English,they are only able to have some simple talks instead of having deep communication on professional business affairs.Interpreter is very essential for foreign language speakers to communicate with Chinese.So a qualified interpreter plays a very important role in such activities.This is a report based on a Business interpreting practice.The author was the interpreter of this cooperation discussion between Australian Hampton Capital and a Chinese Entrepreneur in 2016.The author chose some of the transcription of this interpreting task and the report analyzed some cases on the basis of skopos theory.The report describes the whole interpreting practice process,including the pre-task preparations,interpreting task,interpreting process,interpreting performance and self-evaluation.In terms of some cases,the author applied the framework of skopos theory to analyze the interpreting product.The author found that some interpreting skills such as addition,omission,and explanation can effectively improve the interpreter's output.The report is supposed to provide some guidance for business interpreting.
