A Report On The Translation Of Social News In New York Times

As a record of events,a tool of information dissemination,and the reflection of the characteristics of the era,news has its own characteristics.It covers a wide range of content including all areas of human social life;It requires true stories,timely reports and simple words.Thus,the translation of news requires both objectivity and attraction so as to realize its function of communication.This also makes the language of news translation the one that is scientific,literary,interesting and easy to understand.All the texts of this translation practice are reports selected from the websites of New York Times,with the characteristics of objectivity,accuracy,authenticity and authority.It focuses on the differences between English and Chinese encountered in the process of translation,and how to use the relevant translation strategies to solve them.This report is based on the news on the New York Times website,from which I selected25 articles to translate into Chinese.It consists of four parts.The first part is task description,and it illustrates the process of translation and the difficulties encountered in the process.The second part describes and analyzes the differences between English and Chinese.Part three is the case analysis,in which I analyze differences between Chinese and English through translation examples and use translation techniques to realize the translations between languages and solve the problem in the translation process.Part four is the summary with translation experiences and inspiration for the future work.
