The grape is one of the earliest artificially cultivated plants in the world and has a long history of being introduced into our country before the 4th century BC.Before the Uighur moved to the west,Gaochang area had been generally planted grapes and brewing wine,especially in Gaochang Guo and Tang Xizhouperiod.Uighur moved to Gaochang and established Gaochang Uighur,in order to adapt to the new environment and change the production mode and lifestyle,Gaochang Uighur developed the agricultural production hardly,but animal husbandry still accounted for a large proportion.In the relatively large population and narrow land,and the relatively high proportion of animal husbandry in Gauchang Uighur region,grape growing was still flourishing.From the fiefs lords,monasteries,officials to ordinary people had different sizes of vineyards,and private vineyard trading,mortgage and tenancy phenomenon is widespread.In addition to unique natural conditions in Gaochang Uighur region,the demand for wine was very important.Wine had an indispensable position in the basic life of Gaochang Uighur,can be used to pay taxes,repay the rent,entertain guests messenger,pay interest and can also be medicine.Gaochang Uighur belonged to the Mongolian and became fifth son of Chengjisihan,then Gaochang Uighur had to worship a large number of wine to the Central Plains dynasty.Gaochang was the fortress in the Silk Road,the Uighurs engaged in commercial trade activities,wine had become an important trade goods.
