A Study On Jinzhou In Song Dynasty

Jinzhou,an important state of Hedong in Song Dynasty was located in the southwest of Shanxi province today.The administrative region of Jinzhou was approximately quite same with Linfen,Shanxi.Because of its' vital position,Jinzhou was setted with high grade,which was just inferior to Taiyuan Fu(Bingzhou)and Longde Fu(Luzhou)in Hedong.Jinzhou,also known as ancient Pingyang,has a long history.Tangzhou was setted in Pingyang in the second year of Xiaochang in the Northern Wei Dynasty(526),and then in the first year of Jianyi(528),Tangzhou was changed to Jinzhou,this was the first time that Linfen was named "Jinzhou".In Song dynasty,Jinzhou governed 10 counties include Linfen,Hongdong,Xiangling,Shenshan,Huoyi,Zhaocheng,Fenxi,Jishi,Yueyang and Hechuan.The prefecture of Jinzhou also changed sometimes.In the sixth year of Zhenghe during Huizong reign(1116),Jinzhou was escalated to Pingyang Fu.Jinzhou was one of the major grain producing areas in Hedong in Song Dynasty and also one of the twenty iron smelting site.Jinzhou was one of the main origin areas of alum and the second larger commercial center which just fell behind Bingzhou.At the beginning of Song Dynasty,with its geographical advantage,Jinzhou became the Lateral base of defeating the North Han by preparing enough,invading frequently,inducing to capitulate;At the end of Song Dynasty,Yisheng troops who stationed in the suburb of Pingyang rebelled and destroyed the military defense facilities of Pingyang when the army of Jin Dynasty invaded the territory of Song Dynasty.It made the army of Jin Dynasty march much eaiser and quicker into Pingyang,and it directly led the fall of Pingyang.The development of culture and education of Jinzhou in Song Dynasty was laggard,and the number of Jinshi of Jinzhou in Song dynasty was few.It cannot be known when the prefectural school was established with the missing of records in literature.There were so many famous historic sites which were the important content of many poets and literary men to write poems and essays,such as Yao Temple,Guangsheng Temple,Huoshan Mountain,Yutu Temple,Longzi Temple.Buddhism and Taoism were thriving in Jinzhou in Song dynasty,and the public religion mainly include the faith of ancient emperors,local landscapes and local people,so there were many temples and believers.
