A Report On E-C Translation Of The Cutline In Edison And The Rise Of Innovation

Of all the content,only the titles of stories or headlines have higher readership than cutline.As a part of a photo,cutline plays the role of explanation,supplement and promotion to a photo.But the independence of cutline is poor,it never exists alone,and must appear with photos.An effective cutline translation not only can help readers understand the content of a photo,but also enhance the reader's overall reading experience.Otherwise,the reader are not easy to recognize the photo with a weak translation.So it is very important to study the English-Chinese translation of cutline.An effective translation of cutline could not be gotten without combining with its corresponding photo or without reading the body article.The cutline we discussed in this report drive from Edison and the Rise of Innovation.And this book has no Chinese version in the market so far.In this report,the translator analyzes some of the problems the translator met during the translation practice,and makes a preliminary analysis on the English-Chinese cutline translation.The translator mainly discussed six kinds of translation methods applied during the translation process,namely,literal translation,omission,amplification,adaptation,conversion,annotation.This report is a translation project report.It falls into five parts.The first part is introduction.The Second part gives a brief introduction to the translation project and cutline.And the third part gives a simple description of the translation process.The fourth part is the core of this report—case analysis.And the last part is a summary of the translation project.
